Production Kicks off with Amoeba Expert on Board.
Premium kids content producer Cottonwood Media and kids net GULLI are delighted to announce the extension of its partnership on SQUISH in Russia and Africa: Gulli Girl and Gulli AFRICA will join its French counterpart in broadcasting the animated comedy about the secret life of Amoebas.
Aimed at 6-11 year olds, SQUISH is an animated comedy that features the genuinely original world of an Amoeba looking to survive life in the cutthroat world of single cell organisms…not to mention school! And in an absolute animation first, producer Cottonwood Media has hired a renowned specialist in amoebas and micro-biology, and noted fellow at NYU, to consult on the series.
David Michel, Managing Director of Cottonwood Media and sister distribution company Federation Kids & Family states, “We really enjoy creating shows that are both original and funny. Having a microbiology expert adds a very unique twist in that SQUISH will be the first slapstick comedy that, on top of entertaining, provides the viewers with knowledge about the world of microbes and amoeba. You can’t say that every day!”
Caroline Cochaux, Executive Director of Broadcast and TV Programs for France and International at Lagardère Active comments, “Developing our Russia and Africa services are key to our global, long term development. Adding a signature comedy series such as SQUISH to these channels will help in a big way.”
Developed by John Derevlany, (Lego: Legend of Chima, Johnny Test, Endangered Species, and Angry Beaver, etc.) SQUISH is in full production with delivery planned for fall 2017.
SQUISH is based on the hilarious New York Times best-selling graphic novels by JENNIFER HOLM and Eisner Award-winning creator MATTHEW HOLM. Published by Random House Children’s Books, over one million copies of the existing six books have been sold to date, with a new book to be published yearly.
Cottonwood Media is a sister company to distributor Federation Kids & Family. Federation Kids & Family distribute all Cottonwood Media shows as well as third party premium content.
